Apple iPad UK Release Delayed: Pre-order May 10

For those of you who had assumed that you would be able to get your hands on the Apple iPad in the UK in late April – then we are afraid to inform you that the international release has been delayed by one-month. You will be able to pre-order from May 10.

The reason for this delay is due to strong U.S. sales, which does not seem fair. Apple should have allocated a certain number for U.S. and international units, not give North America preferential treatment over other countries.

According to Reuters more than 500,000 iPad tablets have now been sold, much higher than anticipated. It is for this reason that the maker of the iPhone has exceeded current stock levels.

Apple has said that they will announce a release date and pricing on may 10. This news is great for shareholders, as they know that Apple has produced yet another popular device – like the updates to the MacBook pro range – but try telling that to the consumer in the UK.

Are you angry over this delay?

I was intending to buy a 64Gb 3G iPad in April but given the manner in which Apple have dealt with UK Apple customers over the release of the iPad here I am thinking I might not bother now…very shoddy

I was considering doing exactly the same but I now definitely will not bother.

Well done Jobs – keep your fans over in the Americas, I will wait for the clones – they will come AND be more superior – and don't think litigation will help you – just like your iphone – see the lessons of IBM and the pc – with luck Apple will begin losing Market share.

Umm North America is not a country it is a continent…all of North America does not have the iPad yet…just ask Canada…its only available the United States

Until now I have been a loyal Apple customer and used the Uk store to buy products. I'm now off to find an alternative source as I'm fed up of waiting. Coupled with the probability of a 20% price hike in the UK I might as well buy from the US – it will cost the same in the long run but without the wait. Might even wait until thre end of the month and get a 3G version – still faster than getting one in the UK – sorry UK workersbt my patience has worn too thin.

Was going to get one of these for my GF's birthday on 17th May. But not now, obviously. So I'll have to get her something else and Apple can shove its iPad up its arse.
