Verizon iPhone 4G: Will it release before Sprint and AT&T?

The idea of a Verizon iPhone 4G being released this summer is one of the hottest topics on the Internet. The reason behind this is the fact Apple may launch a new phone and the current AT&T exclusivity could be coming to an end.

Product-reviews came across an interesting story on iPhoneGamerBlog for those of you who are thinking of upgrading to the new iPhone 4G – if and when it is released. The article looks closely at why Apple may have to stop favoring AT&T and head over to Verizon.

If Apple considers sticking with AT&T, then users need to know that the carrier is a few years behind when it comes to its LTE plans. Verizon and Sprint are already a lot further with its 4G network; the former has already launched its first full 4G phone, the HTC EVO.

We already know that AT&T’s 3G coverage is not as great as its rivals – which is why they have been working hard to improve it. This is one of the reasons why AT&T is not too bothered with LTE at this time.

I personally think that the next iPhone will just be a minor upgrade to the current 3GS, maybe a better camera, improved battery and true multitasking with a little help from iPhone OS 4.0.

If Apple wants any chance of fighting off Android and its huge range of smartphones, then they need to shift to Verizon this year. If not, then Apple will begin to see its dominance in the smartphone market fall rapidly.

    I hope you're right. I'm due for an upgrade but am waiting to see what happens with Apple before I get a new phone.

    well from personal experience the android, motorola droid is terrible, i would go back to the iphone in a heartbeat. only thing i like is the multi task applications. iPhone is 10x better than the droid.

    You dont understand. verizon uses a completely different band for its calls and data. apple would need to make an ENTIRELY new phone in order to support verizon. sprint is another story, but if apple were planning on releasing an iphone for verizon, it would be big old steve to make the announcement himself.

    Mr. Chubb, I truely again with all of your facs that you have in this article, but wouldn't it be true in your opinion that along with people wanting speed apps are the main attraction to the iphone. There are more iphone app developers than any other smartphone.

    Are you sure? I wouldn't say "ENTIRELY" all they need is a CDMA chip from Qualcomm. Somehow the Blackberry Tours are able to fit both CDMA and GSM into the same case so although some engineering would be necessary it's definitely NOT rocket science.

    If Apple doesn’t announce an iPhone for another carrier this summer, then I’m buying an HTC or Droid. FYI, unlike what the At&t commercials state, I get ZERO At&t coverage where I live (funny how my area IS colored blue though on the at&t map), i would only get partner coverage. If I were to get At&t, they would cancel my contract in less than 6 months. A lot of guys who got stationed at the shithole base where I’m at were stuck with their brand new iPhone that wouldn’t work.

    Forget the iphone with Verizon or AT&T, Sprint HTC EVO 4G is the way to go plus by the time Verizon & AT&T get up to speed…Sprint will be sprinting ahead of the pack again.
