UK Love Facebook and Twitter: 30M Use Social Media

Research recently carried out by InSites Consulting has been looking at just how popular social networking is in the UK, if their figures are accurate the extend of it’s popularity is pretty staggering.

Their research suggests that more than three quarters of the UK’s population use some form of social networking, most of which either use Facebook or Twitter.

Three quarters of the UK’s population is said to equate to around 28.8 million users, the study also showed that most users are signed up to two social networking sites and sign in on average twice a day.

Aparently half of the British social networking users use Facebook, whereas 42 per cent of Brits are members of Twitter, I must say in my experience lots of my friends have joined both, however are inactive on Twitter as they don’t understand the site’s benefits.

Another interesting statistic stated that on average UK social media users have 173 friends, this is overshadowed by South America’s users who on average have 360 friends. To find out some more pretty interesting statistics check out the link below.

If you had to choose between Facebook and Twitter which one would you get rid off?
