Hello Sprint HTC EVO 4G: Goodbye Palm Pre Plus

There was a time when we all assumed that Sprint and Palm were in trouble – now it is just Palm. Sprint has announced its partnership with HTC and the new EVO 4G, the first 4G WiMax smartphone from Sprint.

The sad news is – there always has to be a casualty, and it is the Palm Pre Plus that will suffer from this. We know that the new EVO 4G will be released in the summer, so people will wait until then for an upgrade.

Even the HTC HD2 and the Google Nexus One will suffer at the hands of this latest smartphone, mainly because it has almost the same specs, but a better UI, not to mention the fact that it packs a 8-megapixel camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera as well.

Some of the specifications include that 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 4.3-inch screen, Android OS 2.1, 1GB ROM, 512MB RAM and much more. The best feature of all is in its mobile data speeds, this is thanks to Sprint’s WiMax 4G service.

Ironically, the only group that will suffer are the first-time HTC EVO 4G owners. After they've had a chance to use it for a day, they'll return it back to Sprint for having the shortest battery life not worth paying for.

Palm Pre Plus has little relevance here. Pity the EVO is only on Sprint. Pre Plus will be on a min. of 3.
