Demo 2010: Social networking and collaboration tools

The Spring Demo conference has been full of technology to make it quicker and easier to gather and distribute information, with the rise of social networking, such as Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter, in mind. Executives in many social networking-related businesses have been displaying new collaborative software, enabling social networks to be handled.

Analyst Dan Olds, was not taken aback by the large amount of companies involved in social networking who made such a strong showing at Demo. He said, “Social networking is driving a huge amount of development in the tech industry”. He also noted that many people are jumping on board and developing related software to take advantage of the social networking boom.

Many new ideas have been shown including Collaborize from Democrasoft which is a service to assist users to create online communities. Another company, Fliptop have unveiled 2 new products, both targeted to help users get real-time alerts from their preferred Web sites.

Meanwhile Genieo displayed a desk-top application that can let people create a homepage to help them deal with all the info from different social networking sites, that’s being sent to them.
