Kindle for Apple Mac: Major new platform for Amazon

Amazon knows that they need to offer something special to help sales of its eBook reader – Kindle. Strangle this secret weapon is the Mac; a new application allows you to read eBooks on your Apple computer – even the ones that you have purchased from Amazon themselves.

The Kindle Mac app works much the same as the ones available for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and BlackBerry. The application will sync with your Kindle device, so if you have to stop reading on your Mac and take your Kindle out with you, you can continue where you left off.

If you are interested in the Kindle for Mac, then visit the Amazon website to download. Remember that you will need to have Mac OS X 10.5 or above – Mashable does warn us that the full text search and how you are able to edit notes on Kindle will be added to a future update of the app.

It came as no surprise that Amazon released this app; it was seen as a necessary step in keeping the Kindle relevant. Amazon are now bracing themselves for some tough times, this has a little something to do with the Apple iPad – which starts to ship on April 3.
