New Twitter platform called @anywhere

The creators of Twitter have just announced a brand new platform for the website, which aims to bring more Twitter functionality to websites, without requiring the user to leave the page that they are currently viewing.

As reported from Mashable, the new platform is called ‘@anywhere’ – and will allow you to follow any Twitter account that is associated with that site, without being redirected to their profile page.

Websites that support the new @anywhere platform will allow operators to display Twitter’s new functionality on their site, allowing interested users to use it without navigating away.

Companies that have signed up for the service so far, include Amazon, Ebay, YouTube, Yahoo, New York Times, Bing and many more.

Twitter states that further updates on the new service will come via the official @anywhere Twitter profile. Let us know your thoughts on this idea. Will it work?
