Twitter Phishing Attacks and Hacked Accounts – Trust And Safety
Twitter users have been coming under phishing attacks for some time now, but the micro-blogging website has begun their fight back. Twitter users will certainly be happy about this news – but what have they got planned to combat this very serious problem?
Twitter’s director of the trust and safety team, Del Harvey has announced the launch of a new security service. The social networking site can now detect, intercept and prevent these malicious links before they reach their target.
The new security feature uses the same sort of system as Google’s Gmail – checking link destinations to all links submitted. Attacker shave been hitting two Twitter services the hardest – Direct Messages and email notifications – so will begin the new feature there first.
Twitter users will not need to do anything; they will not notice a difference – well only that they will not be getting any phishing attacks. For more details on this new security feature visit GAJ IT.
