Facebook Location to Launch Next Month: Addresses Privacy Issues

We have known for some time that Facebook were to move into Location, and is to officially launch next month at their developers conference. This new feature will be incorporated in two ways – sharing locations and allowing APIs to allow other apps from other social media sites to offer the service as well.

Before Facebook launches the service for the likes of Foursquare and Gowalla they need to make certain that they address privacy issues – such as setting to change location with select groups of friends. The New York Times does not offer the fine details on how this will work.

More than 400 million users will have access to this new Facebook feature – 100 million from mobiles alone. Facebook will have an edge with this location feature thanks to the many native apps for the many cell phone platforms.

The main competition for Facebook is not Foursquare or Gowalla – but Google and the huge database of business advertisers. With this new feature from Facebook, their rival will now need to up their game. For more details visit Mashable.
