Twitter Location API: Raffi Krikorian promises better support

We already know that Twitter Location API is available and supports places, but not many of us knew that it only supports latitude and longitude. This is ideal to tell you where you are in the world, but not down to specific buildings and establishments. However, Raffi Krikorian has promised better support in the future.

Many of us like to see the users exact location of where they were when they tweeted, and offering this support will allow other Twitter users to talk about that locations to those who are currently there Tweeting away. Many of you will agree that this is just a minor detail, but it is one that makes all the difference.

If you were to ask Mashable, they would say that this extra feature would allow Twitter to compete with other services, such as Foursquare (Foursquare) or Gowalla (Gowalla). Both these allows you as the user to check the location of where your friends are. Something like this on Twitter would be of huge importance.
